RRB Section Controller Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying for the Section Controller post should first check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria. The basic eligibility details have been provided below for easy reference.

Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026)

  • Minimum Age: 20 years
  • Maximum Age: 33 years

Age relaxation will be applicable for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/Ex-Servicemen, etc.) as per the Government of India rules.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree from a recognised University/Institute.
  • Equivalent qualifications may also be accepted as per RRB guidelines (detailed eligibility will be provided in the full notification).

Medical Standards

  • The post requires candidates to meet the A2 medical standard.
  • Candidates must have good vision and physical fitness as prescribed by Indian Railways.

Nationality

The applicant must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and certain other countries with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

RRB Section Constroller Selection Process

The RRB Section Controller 2026 selection process includes four stages. Candidates must successfully clear each stage to be considered for final appointment.

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  2. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be shortlisted for the BAT. Those clearing the aptitude test will be called for document verification and a medical fitness examination. The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the examination and fulfilment of all eligibility requirements.

RRB Section Controller 2026 Exam Pattern

The RRB Section Controller CBT Exam 2026 will have 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks. The exam will cover Analytical & Mathematical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning. Candidates will get 120 minutes to complete the test.

RRB Section Constroller Salary 2026

The Section Controller post is placed under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), offering a starting basic pay of Rs. 35,400 per month.
