What is IPMAT? Complete Guide to the 5-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IIMs)
The Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) is a premier national entrance examination that allows students to enter the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) directly after Class 12th.
Instead of waiting to clear graduation and compete in CAT, IPMAT provides a direct dual-degree pathway: BBA + MBA (5-Year Integrated Programme in Management) from premier institutions like IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak.

The final selection does not rely solely on test scores:
- Aptitude Test Score (ATS): Candidates must clear sectional and overall cutoff marks in the written test.
- Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates face an interview testing academic awareness, general knowledge, communication, and leadership aptitude.
- Composite Score: Final admission is offered based on a weighted formula (typically ~65% IPMAT score + 35% Personal Interview).
5. Why Choose IPMAT After Class 12th?
- The IIM Brand Value: Direct entry into India's premier management brand without taking CAT after graduation.
- Exit Option: Students have the flexibility to exit after 3 years with an undergraduate degree (BBA) or continue to complete their MBA.
- Placements & ROI: IPM students sit alongside the flagship PGP (MBA) batch during campus placements, securing average salary packages ranging from ₹22 LPA to ₹30+ LPA in consulting, finance, marketing, and technology.
